Previously unpublished, this picture by Geoffrey Nanton captures Ringo Starr and John Lennon in January 1966 in the West Indies on the Villa pier near Kingstown on the island of St. Vincent. Along with their wives at the time, Cynthia Lennon and Maureen Starkey, the Beatles were about to depart on a ferry for a vacation on Young Island, just offshore.
This happened a few weeks after their December 1965 release of the album Rubber Soul. The two Beatles were vacationing at St. Vincent after a short stay in Trinidad. Meanwhile, back in England on January 21, George Harrison married Pattie Boyd; Paul McCartney served as best man.
